PEX is an easy installation for both a professional and a do it yourself job. Because it is made from metal alloys that contain antimicrobial properties , it is certified for safe use. PEX is an affordable part of a water supply piping system.
PEX fittings follow the same principles as regular pipe fittings. It connects PEX tubing to each other or to other types of pipes, and can be used to terminate one end of the PEX tube.
PEX fittings have unique ridges on the "insert" part offering a guaranteed seal. The combination of the PEX Fittings and tube along with a crimped copper ring ridges, provide a securely fastened seal with visibly inspectable connections.
Important things to consider when purchasing PEX fittings are: the type of the PEX connection (crimp, clamp, or expansion method), size (3/8” to 1”), type of tubing being used (PEX, copper, CPVC, iron, PEX-AL-PEX), material of the fitting (brass, copper, and poly alloy), angle, and number of connections. Please note that certain special tools are needed to make different types of PEX connections.
